Business Spotlight – P.O.R.G.I.E. Natural Health

Linda Goodman, pet behavior consultant, reiki instructor and E.F.T. practitioner, believes that “pet ownership requires getting informed and educated” and so P.O.R.G.I.E., a natural health store for pets, was born. Starting in 1985 as a dog teaching enterprise, P.O.R.G.I.E. expanded into a pet supply store and continued to evolve into a “health store for pets and their people”. Creating a unique destination for healthy, holistic pet products was led by her desire to help her own pet when locating many of the needed items was challenging and time consuming.

By offering specialty pet foods such as Taste of the Wild® and Wysong®, fresh foods, grain free products, pet supplements and remedies to her customers she supports her philosophy that “foods are the bottom line for health”. A special feature of P.O.R.G.I.E. Natural Health is a holistic veterinary clinic offered every three weeks by visiting holistic veterinarian, Anne Smith VMD.

Customers searching for positive teaching for their dog will find that P.O.R.G.I.E Puppy offers classes including kindergarten puppy teaching, private consultations, tricks, clicker teaching and aggression intervention. The focus is always positive reinforcement and mutual trust and respect in her teaching methods. All of Linda’s teaching is from the dog’s point of view. Teaching is fun for everyone when the focus is on play and rewards versus a competitive training environment based on punishment. This makes working with Linda an enjoyable learning experience for both the pet and their people.

According to Linda, “Our mission is simple: to provide the healthiest products and our best service to our customers with prices as low as possible.” P.O.R.G.I.E. Natural Health provides the personalized attention and specialty products that pet owners are searching for to provide a healthy, happy life for their pet.
